About Mary Ann Bailey, MC

Mary Ann and her dog I am a Catalyst for Courage for women in transition. I help women connect with their inner courage and use the strength of that courage to successfully make the changes they want to make in their lives.

My expertise in the area of transition comes from a combination of both personal and professional experience. I started my career in the field of education as a junior high and high school teacher. After ten years of teaching, I decided to return to school and get a master's degree in counseling. Upon completing my degree, I was hired as a counselor at a youth and family counseling agency. I worked for four years doing direct service work and then was given the opportunity to move into the role of program director. Three years later, I was promoted to associate director of the agency.

After working for 12 years in the non-profit sector and surviving a diagnosis of breast cancer, I once again decided it was time to transition to a new career. I realized my priorities had changed. Coaching seemed like the perfect answer. So, I took a risk, went to coaching school, and started Catalyst for Courage. I have helped people from all walks of life successfully navigate the uncertain pathways of life transitions.

I understand how difficult it can be to pursue one's dreams. I had a book kicking around in my head for three years before I found the courage to challenge the voices of fear and doubt that kept telling me that the book was a silly idea and that I was not adequate to the task. Luckily, I found a great book coach who helped me tap into my courage and passion for writing, and Gentle Warrior: Awakening the Courage to Live a Bold and Brilliant Life was finally written. I know what it's like to journey down the less traveled roads where dreams reside and I look forward to being a guide for anyone who is ready to step out of the confines of their comfort zone and start living a bigger and bolder life.

"I want my clients to succeed."

As a coach, it is my mission to create a safe and respectful coaching environment in which my clients feel both supported and challenged as they work toward their their personal goals. My coaching style has been described as warm, direct, and respectful. I will push my clients because I believe in their potential. I will be there to celebrate their successes and I will be there to support them when they stumble. I also like to have fun, and believe that humor is a necessary ingredient in any success.

I hold a B.A. in Psychology and a masters degree in Counseling, and am a graduate of the Integral Coaching Program of New Ventures West in San Francisco.

From a Client...

“I had reached a point of total burnout and didn't even realize it. My coach, Mary Ann, was a lifesaver. She guided me to a new way of looking at things, gave me some very practical tools to utilize in my life, and most importantly, held me accountable. Mary Ann was able to get me unstuck so that I could begin to dream again and think about all the new possibilities in my life. I am currently transitioning to a new and very exciting job. I also am taking more time for myself and am having a lot more fun with life.”
